Phylogeny: A molecular study in Levin & Golubtsov (2017) demonstrated that this species is not a Pollimyrus, but instead very close to Cyphomyrus psittacus. Distribution: Lower White Nile, Blue Nile, Murchison Nile. Distribution map in Faunafri Taxonomic name: Cyphomyrus petherici (Mormyridae)
